EAMA Announces 2019 Video Challenge Theme & Teams
The Eastern Advanced Manufacturing Alliance- EAMA is coordinating a program that joins local high schools and manufacturers together to educate students to the changes in manufacturing that are currently taking place and how students can prepare themselves for successful careers in manufacturing.
Our video competition entitled “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” will begin later this year. For the last 4 years, EAMA has successfully hosted video competitions that each engaged and inspired over 100 students in New London & Windham county schools.
Our goal is to educate students, teachers and parents about the manufacturing industry by pairing a high school team with a manufacturing company in the area to create a video that showcases the technology and processes in manufacturing. Each team will have a liaison at their paired manufacturing company. They will meet with their manufacturer at least 3 times, first to perform a set of interviews and have a preliminary tour of the company, then to review their proposed story, script, another time to film and finally to edit & proof the video.
Completed video will be posted on the EAMA website, the paired manufacturing company website and on Youtube. Each school may post their team’s video on the school site. It is a great way for companies to showcase their internal talent and engage and recruit a younger generation to consider manufacturing careers.
EAMA will host a film festival in April 2019. All of the videos will be screened during the festival and prizes will be awarded. Members of EAMA are eligible to participate in the competition at a reduced rate of $250.00 and are given early priority to match with local high schools. The cost for non-EAMA members to participate is $350.00 and includes 1st year membership to EAMA. Teams will be matched in the order that registration forms and payments are received.
The funds collected help offset the costs of the event and provide prizes to the winning teams.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the event.
